“Intuition is one of the most valuable mental tools you possess. Begin to consciously use it. Your rewards will be worth the effort.”

The 8% Club

I’ve been sharing mindset tips with you to help you join the 8% Club, the 8% of people who actually attain their goals.

Last week, we looked at imagination, the ability to see possibilities that don’t exist yet.

As powerful as imagination is, imagination alone isn’t enough. You also need to know which possibilities to pursue.

6 Higher Intellectual Faculties

Bob Proctor and Napoleon Hill both recognized intuition as one of the six higher intellectual faculties, alongside Will, Perception, Reasoning, Memory, and Imagination.

Intuition is your inner knowing; your subconscious mind is processing millions of pieces of information every second, connecting dots you didn’t even know existed.

It draws on your past experiences, values, environment, and body signals all at once, and guides you toward the right path even when logic can’t explain why. It’s not magic, it’s neuroscience. When you learn to trust it, intuition becomes one of the most powerful tools you have.

It’s your body telling you, “I know something you don’t consciously know yet.”

Intuition is intelligence that doesn’t need words.

Why Intuition Matters

When you set goals using only reasoning or memory, you’re limited by what you already know. Chances are slim that you will think beyond your current reasoning. If you use memory, the negativity bias will cause you to remember past failures.

But when you combine imagination with intuition, something different happens. You can imagine a bold vision and have the inner guidance to know which steps to take.

The most successful people don’t just think their way to success; they feel their way there, too. They trust their gut when making decisions.

Intuition helps you:

  • Make faster decisions without getting stuck in analysis paralysis
  • Recognize opportunities that align with your goals
  • Spot red flags before logic can explain them
  • Stay true to your path instead of getting swayed by others

Why Most People Ignore Their Intuition

Even though intuition is powerful, most people ignore it. Why?

  • Fear: What if I’m wrong?
  • Worry: I need more information before I can decide.
  • Distraction: I’m too busy to slow down and listen.
  • Stress: My monkey brain is crazy; I can’t hear anything else.

We’ve also been taught to value logic over instinct. Reasoning is valuable; it’s one of the 6 Intellectual Faculties. But when it’s your only tool, you miss out on the wisdom your intuition offers.

Intuition is like a muscle. The more you use it, the stronger it gets.

3 Ways to Strengthen Your Intuition:

  1. Transformative Life Hack: Create quiet moments in your day. Intuition speaks in whispers, not shouts. You can’t hear it if your mind is constantly racing. Schedule three 2-minute breaks daily. These quiet moments are where your inner wisdom emerges.
  2. Pay attention to your body. Your body often knows before your mind does. Notice physical sensations when making decisions. Does your chest feel tight or open? Does your stomach clench or relax? These signals are your intuition communicating.
  3. Distinguish intuition from fear. Fear screams. Intuition whispers. Fear says, “What if everything goes wrong?” Intuition says, “This doesn’t feel right.” Fear makes you feel panicked. Intuition makes you feel clear, even if uncomfortable.

The Magic of Marrying Imagination and Intuition

When you use both faculties together:

  • Imagination shows you what’s possible
  • Intuition guides you toward what’s right for you

This is how the 8% who achieve their goals operate. They don’t just dream, they feel their way forward with clarity and confidence.

P.S. Act on your intuition quickly. Fun Fact: Intuitive insights fade within 37 seconds if you don’t capture them. When you get a gut feeling or inner nudge, write it down or act immediately. The longer you wait, the more your rational mind talks you out of it.

Your intuition knows. Trust it.

What is your intuition telling you right now that you’ve been ignoring?

In Optimism,

Rita

This Week’s Challenge:

Practice tuning into your intuition. Before making any decision, big or small, pause and ask yourself: “What does my gut say?” Notice the first answer that comes up, before your rational mind or your Inner Critic jumps in. Write it down. Then see what happens when you honor that inner knowing.
